Coalition Building

Historically, asset-building coalitions grew out of networks of Individual Development Account service providers or local Volunteer Income Tax Assistance coalitions. However, as the asset-building field has grown to include financial coaching and other services, there can be a number of reasons why a group might choose to form an asset-building coalition, including streamlined service delivery, information sharing or policy advocacy. In this process, it is important to decide on coalition structure and governance, effectively manage and facilitate the coalition, fundraise, recruit coalition members, and sustain engagement and momentum.
